A few summers ago—
yet another beach,
yet another journey home.
I sat beside the sea,
yet another favourite book resting in my hands.
The perfect company:
Dostoyevsky,
the sea,
and me.
The pages turned slowly,
the afternoon asking nothing of me.
The sun rested quietly upon my skin.
A warm breeze traced my face,
soft enough to feel like a memory,
familiar enough to feel like home.
Before me,
the sea danced in gentle rhythms,
its endless blue unfolding
beyond the reach of my wandering gaze.
Somewhere between
the warmth of the sun,
the salt in the air,
and the hush of the waves,
I forgot where I ended
and where the sea began.
I lost myself
in its endless beauty,
my feet buried in warm sand,
my heart carried gently
with every tide.
There was nowhere else to be.
Nothing to become.
Nothing to prove.
Only this—
the sea,
the silence,
my favourite book,
and a heart so full
it overflowed quietly,
asking nothing more
than to exist.
And somehow,
that was everything.
